TCS React.js Interview Questions
I recently appeared for a React.js / Frontend Developer interview at TCS.
The interview was mainly focused on real-world scenarios, project experience, and problem-solving rather than only theoretical questions.
I’m sharing some of the questions that were asked. These may help others who are preparing for React.js interviews.
Project Discussion
- Explain your current project and your responsibilities.
- How is your application structured from frontend to backend?
- How do different modules communicate with each other?
- Tell me about a production issue you faced and how you fixed it.
React.js Questions
- If changing one filter causes the whole page to re-render, how would you find and fix the issue?
- How would you manage a large form with multiple sections and validations?
- How would you prevent users from clicking Submit multiple times and creating duplicate API requests?
- For a real-time dashboard, would you use polling or WebSockets? Why?
- If a React component has become 1,000+ lines, how would you break it into smaller components?
JavaScript & API Questions
- You have 5 APIs that need to run before displaying a page. How would you handle them?
- If 1 API fails but the other 4 succeed, how would you handle the error?
- If an API returns thousands of records, would you load everything on the frontend? What would you do instead?
Performance Questions
- If a React application's Lighthouse score is poor, what would you check first?
- If a JavaScript function is causing UI lag, how would you find and optimize it?
Coding & Problem Solving
The coding discussion was more about how I approach a problem rather than just writing code.
The main areas were:
- Problem-solving approach
- Edge cases
- Time and space complexity
- Code readability
- Production-level improvements
My Takeaway
The main takeaway for me was that for a senior React.js role, it's important to know how things work in real projects, not just React concepts.
So, while preparing for interviews, focus on real-world scenarios, performance, API handling, debugging, and clean code.
Hope this helps someone preparing for their next React.js interview. 🚀
